I know the feeling. You’re somewhere, you want to eat well, but the scale is at home. And then what? You guess, or you give up and grab whatever’s easy.
Yet the solution is so simple I wonder why I didn’t think of it sooner. You always have the perfect measuring tool with you. Your hands.
I’ve been doing this for years. No stress, no counting, no app. Just look and go.
Here’s how it works:
Protein — the size of your palm. A piece of meat, fish or tofu. As much as fits in your flat hand.
Carbohydrates — the size of a fist. Rice, potatoes, pasta. One fist is enough.
Fats — the size of your thumb. That’s roughly one tablespoon of olive oil, a scoop of peanut butter or a small handful of nuts.
Vegetables — the size of two fists. Be generous here. Vegetables fill you up without weighing much.
The beauty of it: it adjusts automatically to you. Bigger people have bigger hands — and generally need more food. Smaller people have smaller hands. The system thinks for you.
I stopped counting every calorie. Not because it doesn’t matter what I eat — but because I don’t want to build my life around it. This method gives me control without controlling me.
That’s exactly what my book is about. Not doing more than necessary. But not less either. Just what works.
The Power of 50+ launches September 1st.
Stay strong.
